I published my short stories as practice as I am working on two thrillers that will have a lot more detail. I've always enjoyed writing, and I'm hoping people will enjoy my works. |

| The Russian Blonde | by Robert Hendry Feb. 06, 2012 | Free! | 50690 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Hi there. My name is Robert Hendry, and over the past 30 years, I have 26 published Non-Fiction books in paper form. I recently decided I would like to branch out into the Fiction field, initially with a subject I have studied for a similar length of time, the Soviet Union. During that time I got to know a good deal about Soviet military hardware and operational doctrine, and after the break up of the USSR, it was interesting to actually see at first hand the stuff I had studied at a distance.Seeing a Termit Surface to surface missile fired for real beats any number of photos! The majority o COl War Era novels have a Western hero and Soviet baddies. In the 1980s, as the Brezhnev era ground to a stand, various factions view for power, and my novels have brought in a limited CIA or MI6 involvement, but the main action is between good guys and bad guys in the USSR. The First Novel to be relesed on Smashwords is "To Kill Our WOrthy Comrade", which covers a plot to assassinate the General Secretary at his dacha in the Crimea in 1981. The real 1991 plot took place at the replacement dacha just a few kilometres along the coast. The novel introduces the C-in-C of the Black Sea FLeet, Admiral Petrov who is drawn into the fight to defeat the plotters and a 19 year old girl communications rating, Lidiya. She is one of those girls who just seem to attract trouble, as you will discover in the Lidiya Petrova Series No 2 and No 3. I managed to get No 2, The Admiral's Woman on line, and if you felt that Lidiya had a pretty easy time in No 1, and landed on her feet, you will fidcover that things get a bit more hectic for the lovely Lidiya in "The Admiral's Woman". As you will have gathered I have these two very different publishing careers and I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them. As a historian, I have to rely on available sources, and imagination is not on. As a novelist, it is important to get facts right but after that the more imaginative and original the storyline the better. All the Best RObert H |

| Author bio: I was born in Winston-Salem in the early autumn of 1986, and immediately became a lover of prose and literature. At a young age, I would delve into my mother's vast book collection (Antony and Cleopatra, Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice), and a life-changing love affair was formed. I wanted to orchestrate stories like the ones I read, create new realms of thinking, new worlds, involving various types of people. I completed my first novel at 12...and I haven't put the pen down since. You'll find an array of writing styles - press releases, online exclusives, magazine articles, endorsement letters, suggesting that my interests and career goals surpass literary writing. It has always been my belief that the most important thing about writing is that it should convey the right message, in any fashion that it is presented. For my personal usage, writing has always soothed my soul, has always served as the perfect form of catharsis. |

The truth is love is never enough to get you through the experience. You also need tools to help you give the right kind of care and to avoid caregiver burnout. An educated caregiver is a care manager, with resources and support. Good family care is about making your loved one as active, independent, and comfortable as possible. It makes your job easier because your loved one is more engaged in the care plan. It's important for every caregiver to still maintain goals, hopes and dreams. You should never give up yourself completely to the care. Balance is key." |

Reviews of BENJAMIN GRABBED HIS GLICKEN AND RAN: from Library Journal: "One hopes BENJAMIN won't be dismissed as just another offbeat experimental novel. It is an exciting book!" from Publishers Weekly: "...Benjamin's personal story is wild, with an extraordinary made-up language and a pun-on-pun series of sentences... The novel builds to a strong, dramatic climax and the effect is chilling." from The Christian Science Monitor: "Like a child of Zeus sprung full grown from the head of their creator ... this novel has not received the attention it deserves... The novel is operating simultaneously on three planes and finally on a fourth. Benjamin as a character is oddly captivating ... virtuosic ... exacting descriptions of Benjamin's room, physical sensations, and emotions are like a zoom lens bringing one in intensely close to him. Benjamin says of his Mysteries: 'Words are only a small portion of my life... They are weak technicalities which fail... Words are only words. And besides, I lie a lot.' |

| The Last Generation | by Guy Singer Feb. 04, 2012 | $2.99 | 92622 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: I used to be cute once! Now I'm 56 and I live in Thailand. I've had an odd and varied life. I've held jobs varying from manager of a self-storage facility in London to owner of a small museum in Tennessee. I've lived in many places and enjoyed travelling around. Now I'm semi-retired and write to put a crust of bread on my plate. I have written many short stories and edited many newsletters and society publications. This is the first full-length novel I've attempted, and I hope it won't be the last. The one lesson I've learned from this is not to trust your characters. They really live. Let me quickly tell you the story of Doris, Logan's Mom. She started life in the first draft as a man. He simply answered the telephone, put the call from Mike through to Ronald McMurtry and exited the story. Then he demanded a larger part. Soon he became Doris, and had a speaking role. When Mike decided he wanted to talk to McMurtry, he went to the office and found Doris. I did not write her into that role, show wrote herself. Mike had to go back, re-write where he bought a bunch of flowers and meet her again. She did appreciate the flowers. After a bit, I found she had a 'son', and the character of Logan was born. He was not in the original draft at all. From that moment on, Logan's own role became central. You've read the result. However, I swear Doris and Logan wrote themselves into the book. It was not my doing. The characters live. They really do, and they grow with the story. I loved that. You may find some of them re-appear in later books. I have a story to write about Logan, if he'll let me, and by popular demand, there's the life of Tom in 33AD. He has a lot of travel to undertake despite the fact he's an old man. |

'Time Out'. Een literaire ontmoeting van een 15-tal schrijvers die elk een sci-fi / thriller / spannend verhaal afgeleverd hebben, gebundeld in dit unieke project. Time Out verscheen in juli 2009. En nu heb ik een nieuwe stap genomen door mijn eerste stap te zetten in het e-publishen. 'De eenzame weg naar de hel' is nu te vinden in verschillende e-stores. Op naar de volgende... :-) Luc |

They married in 2001 and she started to build her American dream. She had acting roles in TV commercials, shot photographs for a Knopf/Random House travel guide, studied English and kept wiring. She writes feature stories for a Russian newspaper and teaches yoga. “Quiet River†is her first novel in English. | Author bio: Hi. I'm Shane. I'm currently 23 and living in the town of Bournemouth in the UK. I've lived here all my life. I've written things for ages, but since I'm currently unemployed (but looking to go self-employed for various projects - get in touch if you think I might be able to do something for you, incidentally!) I thought I'd give this self-publishing thing a shot. As I write this, I'm preparing to launch Not Quite Normal, a short story anthology. Over the next few weeks (it's currently the end of January 2012 in case I never update this!), I'll be releasing a few free stories from it. You can find out more information about the project on my blog, the link to which should be below this bio. Thanks for checking this out. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or just want to chat. I'm pretty easy to find online, since I'm the only person who has ever had my name in human history. Which is pretty neat! Take care, and happy reading! Shane |

| The Caged Boys | by Matthew Stephens Feb. 03, 2012 | $0.99 | 40225 words | Sample 15% |
| Author bio: I'm an avid reader and love to write. I am married with two boys and reside in Minnesota. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King,Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Peter Straub, Suzanne Collins, J.K. Rowling, Thomas Harris, Dan Brown, Cormac McCarthy, and many many more. I'm willing to read any author who has a great idea and is able to express his ideas in a way I can relate(at least with the characters) and understand clearly. I revise constanly and still don't end up satified, but i guess that is something that will come in time, hopefully. I hope you enjoy my stories as much as I enjoy writing them. I am currently working on a novel, but I will try to upload new short stories from time to time, mostly free to read. I believe if I'm going to charge anything it should be at least 4,000 words or more. A lot of the stories I post are old and had been written years ago, but I think they still have good potential (After endless revising and I know they're still not perfect). Thanks for your time.
