Independence Day, Book One: The Beginnings | by Bex Aaron April 20, 2011 | Free! | 50596 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I'm not going to speak of myself in the third person anymore, sorry... My name is Bex Aaron. I'm 28, I live in Houston, I'm married and I have so many cats I am starting to feel like the woman on The Simpsons! Writing has always been my passion, though this is the first time I've compiled any of it into an ebook. My goal as a writer is to make people think, feel and care about the world I've created. I'm a big believer in world building. I never want to create a cardboard character, and I never want my stories to be predictable. I deal primarily in drama-based genres, such as soap opera, mystery, suspense and the like...I've done a bit of sci-fi before, but never fantasy. It's just not my cup of tea, sorry. Feel free to contact me at haven underscore park at yahoo dot com. I always enjoy hearing from readers, and if you enjoy my book, please do consider leaving a review! Also, if you enjoy the story, you should join the Facebook fan page: http://facebook.com/havenpark Thanks for your time and don't be a stranger! |

Classmate Murders | by Bob Moats Dec. 23, 2009 | Free! | 52424 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Detroit area resident, Bob Moats, has been writing short stories and plays for as long as he can remember. He has lost most of his original stories, typed or handwritten, in the numerous moves he has made from his hometown of Fraser, Michigan to Northern Michigan, to Las Vegas and back to Fraser, where he now lives. Moats became one of the causalities of unemployment a year ago, and had time on his hands to finally pursue a life long dream of writing a full blown crime novel. Thus was born the first book, "Classmate Murders". What followed was a series of seven books starting with "The Classmate Murders" which introduces the main character, Jim Richards, who has to admit he has become a senior citizen, reluctantly. Richards, one day, receives an email from a childhood sweetheart asking for his help, but by the time he reaches her, she has been murdered. His life turns around and he is pulled into numerous murders of women from his high school who he hasn't seen in forty years. Along with a friend of his, Buck, a big, mustached biker, they go off to track down the killer before he can get to one former classmate, Penny Wickens, a TV talk show host who Jim has just fallen for while protecting her. The killer is also murdering the women right out from under police protection, driving homicide detective Will Trapper crazy, and he slowly depends on Jim to help. There's humor, suspense, wild chases across suburban Detroit with cops, classic cars and motorcycle clubs; murder, mayhem, a good amount of romance and a twist ending. Jim and his crime fighters, continue in the other books, traveling to Las Vegas twice, back to Detroit and out to New York to solve murders involving dominatrix; mistresses; Bridezillas; magic and strip clubs. Book titles: Classmate Murders; Vegas Showgirl Murders; Dominatrix Murders; Mistress Murders; Bridezilla Murders; Magic Murders; Strip Club Murders and Made-for-TV Murders. |

Gloria | by David Sartof Feb. 07, 2010 | Free! | 5319 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: I was born in a small caravan in a field in the north of Scotland. After such an inauspicious yet somehow romantic introduction to life, I have gone on to do many things. I have served in the merchant marine, been a professional engineer, a military officer and an entrepreneur. I also have a PhD in management philosophy and can research the backside off most things! I now live, in North Yorkshire, England, with my wife, young son and their two rabbits (different colours so that I can tell them apart, the rabbits, that is). Throughout my eclectic career, I have always written, believing fervently in the power of the written word, and I have previously published a non-fiction work with Palgrave Macmillan. I now bring together a set of rich experiences, a creative research-based outlook to plot construction, and a dash of essential seasoning, to bring you fiction such as River of Judgement. |

I am a new mother and having my little boy inspired me to try to share my writing with whoever was willing to read it. All Saints Day: A New Orleans Football Mystery | by Sean Patrick Doles Oct. 11, 2011 | Free! | 42933 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Sean Patrick Doles was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After his early education at Immaculate Heart of Mary School, he attended Jesuit High School and earned a National Merit Scholarship to the University of Southern California, where he received degrees in Journalism and History. While at USC, he was an editor of the student newspaper, The Daily Trojan, and a walk-on member of the varsity tennis team. During college, he interned at New Orleans Weekly Gambit newspaper, which was located in the Maison Blanche Building on Canal Street at that time. At Gambit, Sean researched the “Blake Pontchartrain†historical and cultural trivia columns, beginning his ongoing fascination with the secret history of New Orleans. After college, Sean wrote for several Los Angeles-based music magazines before returning home to found the ill-fated Way Y’at N’awlins bar & club directory with his brother Jimmy. (This paper has no relation to the current Where Y’at magazine, which has since prospered.) During this same period, Sean also worked at Gambit, resurrecting his role as Blake Pontchartrain. You may recall his brilliant discourse on the history of Chee-Weez or on magical elixir-like qualities of Regal Beer. And let’s not forget the six months Sean spent working as an emcee at the world-famous Cat’s Meow Karaoke Bar on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. Chasing his heart (and a woman) to Texas, Sean landed briefly in San Antonio where he worked for Sports Magazine Publishing, writing and editing several local and regional publications, before settling in Austin. He spent a few years working for an Austin-based Populist political pundit, running the business while his boss ran his mouth. Now he plies his trade handling marketing and communications for the YMCA. Despite living 500 miles away from his hometown, Sean’s desire to write little historically based stories about New Orleans has never waned, and he has several new tales completed and ready for publication. |

Know One Dared to See : Pre-release | by Emmanuel C. Flint Oct. 20, 2011 | Free! | 6802 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Hello, My name is Emmanuel C. Flint and... One of my favorite forms of art is literature because it seems that all forms of communication can be derived from the written word; it possesses the power to inform, transform, enlighten and support the creation of various works, which can convey meaning in our lives. One can construct and deconstruct entire worlds with literature – not to mention lightening up the darkness with wonderfully arrayed words, as they would appear in ink, having been well-received on paper. In recent years I have labored much to gain some mastery thereof; thus, I have developed my own unique form of literary expression that has been baptized by my life-experiences, over the years. Apart from writing, I have been creating visual art since the age of ten. Many years ago while still in adolescence, I decided to pursue a "creative professional" career. During my high school years I sampled various kinds of art such as life drawing, painting, sculpture and foreign animation. By the time I graduated from college I had acquired many self-taught skills - most of all an intermediate knowledge of human anatomy that would prove most useful in years to come. In May of 2001, I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration. Thenceforth, I took up digital painting and worked as a freelancer for a few years, creating concepts and covers for small graphic novel-based productions. While trying to expand my horizons as a professional, I became interested in 3D graphics. At the time the visual graphics industry was expanding rapidly in both the video game and motion picture arenas. Computer generated art seemed like a limitless world that was full of grand possibilities. In time, I decided to enroll in Digital Media Arts College, where I earned a Masters degree in special effects and 3D animation. When I graduated from the program I was awarded the "Best of Show Award," for my graduate thesis demo reel production in May of 2006. Since then I have been working as a freelancer in 3D graphics. Alongside my freelancing endeavors I spend time developing literary works, with the hope that each will serve as a source of inspiration when I publish them. Ultimately, I aspire to take part in screenplay writing and production, hopefully after I gain some tenure as a novel writer, in the years to come. Although the majority of my work is Christian-based, it has the tendency to appeal to all types of audiences. I currently work and reside in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) where I operative under the business name of Digitalflint.com. Best Regards, Emmanuel C. Flint |
